General contact

Configuration -> Basic settings -> Configuration -> General settings

This general contact is usually a general contact person or the contact details of the organizer. The contact information appears on the start page in the frontend in the right-hand margin (Fig. 1). This contact does not necessarily have to be a named person; it could be for example CDC Local Organizing Committee.

Places where the general contact person is used

The general contact person is indicated in the following places

  • Contact box in the frontend

  • Automatic system emails such as Request Password or Forgot password

The contact person can be selected in the general settings:

  • Select the person icon next to the form field to save a dataset from the person browser as the general contact (Fig. 2).

  • If the desired person dataset was found via the search, it can be applied using the blue arrow at the beginning of the line (Fig. 3).

If no matching person dataset is available, a new person dataset can be created using the Add person button (Fig. 3) and saved directly using the Select checkbox (Fig. 4).

It is also advisable to mark the personal dataset as not matchable (Fig. 4) so that it is not used for duplicate matching and thus unintentionally changed.

Display in the contact box

Only certain details from the personal dataset, if available, are displayed in the contact box in the front end (Fig. 5):

  • Title

  • Given name

  • Family name

  • Occupation

  • Company

  • Department

  • Street

  • Postal code

  • Location

  • Phone

  • Fax

  • Email

  • Website (URL)

Show contact email address

The display of the email address in the contact box must be controlled separately. The setting Show the contact e-mail address can be found in the General settings. The following options are available:

  • Hide email address

  • Show email address spam filtered: The email address is displayed unlinked and according to the pattern info [at] demo.converia.de.

  • Show complete and linked email address: The email address is linked behind the text “E-Mail” as in Fig. 1. This display is also spam-protected.

Show and hide the contact box

The contact box can be displayed on the start page and, if required, on other pages, e.g. in the legal notice.

The contact box can be shown or hidden independently in the page structure by changing the template:

  • To do this, open the corresponding page in the page structure for editing.

  • Change the page template in the General tab (Fig. 7).

The template that contains the contact box is called Frontend3Columns, i.e. a three-column display in the frontend (Fig. 6).

To hide the contact box, the Frontend2Columns (Fig. 7) or Frontend1Column templates can be used, which eliminates the 3rd column. Content from articles is not lost when you change templates.
