Questions and answers

Questions and answers can be used in Converia to request additional booking options and information during the booking process.

In addition, answers have a number of other useful functions that facilitate individual work processes and can be used to map complex offer structures and optimally manage participation registration in the backend. In addition, answers are processed in many places in the system and are part of the data for booking confirmations, badges, etc.

It is advantageous to be able to estimate the further use of the answers during the set-up process. This chapter therefore summarizes the places in the system where answers have an influence and explains the principle of linking answers.

Directly and indirectly linked answers

Fig. 1 shows the schematic structure of the Participation Complete Conference offer. Part of the offer are:

  • Two linked questions (food preferences, comments)

  • Three answer options indirectly linked via the questions (vegetarian, gluten-free, [empty text field] for free text answers)

  • One directly linked answer (complete participation).

Indirectly linked answers

The three answers on the lower level in Fig. 1 are indirectly linked to the offer via the question and are therefore visible to bookers in the frontend . They were created in the offer wizard within an offer as additional questions & answers.

The following applies to indirect responses:

  • They are visible in the frontend.

  • They can be assigned contingents in the wizard when they are created.

  • They can be viewed and edited in the extended package configuration in the Questions tab.

  • They are displayed on booking confirmations.

Directly linked answers

If an offer is created in the offer wizard, a directly linked response is automatically created (upper level in Fig. 1). This response is not visible to bookers in the frontend , as it is not linked to a question, and serves as a counter for each booking of this offer package in the background.

This answer has the same name as the offer package at the time of creation and is not automatically renamed if the name of the offer is changed. In our example event, the answer was subsequently renamed “Complete Participation” as it is used as a cross-offer contingent counter.

The following applies for direct answers:
