# Special case: Free participation as a payment method

A free payment method with the payment processor *Free participation* must be stored in the system (Fig. 1) so that free bookings can be entered and completed and it is possible to filter for free bookings/invoices (Fig. 2).

The payment method *Free participation* is already preconfigured and **should not be changed or deactivated**. This payment method is not visible in the frontend for chargeable bookings and is automatically selected for free bookings.
